On the evening of January 24,
2007, Comet McNaught created an
amazing spectacle over one of
the famous statues of Easter
Island. The light of a
waxing crescent moon illuminates
the clouds, sky and statue
while, in the lower left, appear
the lights of the only "large"
town on the island. During
this most recent journey past
our planet, Comet McNaught
became one of the brightest and
most spectacular comets in
recorded history—becoming
visible for a short time even in
broad daylight! |
