This photograph
of a beautiful, flowing auroral
display, taken on March 20, 2002
from a site near Wickersham
Dome, north of Fairbanks, Alaska,
also shows Comet Ikeya-Zhang.
The comet appears tiny because
it's shot with a 24mm lens, but
even at that, it's plainly
visible to the lower left of the
aurora. M31―the Great
Andromeda Galaxy―appears as a
tiny
elongated smudge just to the
right of a star near the image's
center. |
