STL-97-001

The northern stars circle Polaris, the North Star, as moonlight from a last quarter moon illuminates the sky and a nearby tree.  During this 2-1/4 hour exposure in August 1997, airplane trails swirl through the sky, and red flashlights from other stargazers add color to the foreground.
