During the moon's monthly orbit around the Earth, it spends half of its time in the daytime sky.  In the Earth's Northern Hemisphere, the waning gibbous moon appears high in the southwest after sun-up, creating in this photo a pretty sight against the bright blue sky over the Parliament Building in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
