CASCADE
AUR-02-010

On this night of March 20, 2002, this colorful auroral display seemed to cascade from the moonlit sky over the trees near Wickersham Dome, north of Fairbanks, Alaska.  The flowing rays from this classic type-A auroral display extend vertically through the atmosphere from about 60 miles up (within the green light) to more than 120 miles up (within the red).
