Only a leisurely two-hour drive from
downtown San Diego, the desert
community of Borrego Springs is
known for having some of the best
night sky conditions in the U.S.
Because of its typically dry air, minimal light pollution
and unique metal sculptures, Borrego Springs has long been a popular destination for
both stargazers
and night sky photographers alike.
Learn more about this unique
community—its
lodging, restaurants, and
activities—from the
Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce. |
|
|
The night sky of Saturday, November 14
will feature a thin crescent moon
(11% illuminated) that will provide not
only a great subject for night sky
photographers, but also a soft light
source to illuminate the desert.
After the moon sets behind the
mountains not long after 7 p.m.,
the Milky Way will arch beautifully
across the sky.
